Job ResponsibilitiesCoastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Under the direct supervision of Food Service Director. The incumbent will drive food carts to deliver food and supplies to cottages. Performs general food service/warehouse duties at Coastal Center.* Follow established work schedules and training procedures.* Be able to demonstrate correct techniques of rotating all food items.* Ability to maintain food service records and filling phone orders.* Prepares records and check off lists.* Follow dry stores and refrigerated food procedures to ensure optimum storage conditions.The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs offers an exceptional benefits package for FTE positions that includes:* 15 days annual (vacation) leave accrual per year.* 15 days sick leave per year* 13 paid holidays* Paid Parental Leave* Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance* State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation ProgramsMinimum and Additional RequirementsThere are no minimum training and experience requirements for this class.A valid SC Driver's License is required for this position.Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and repetitive motions. Subject to outside and inside conditions.Physical requirements of exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, an/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to more objects.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution and serving of food products. Knowledge of dietetic principles involved in planning and reviewing menus for nutritional adequacy, dietary balance and attractiveness of prepared food products. Knowledge of the methods, materials and appliances used in a bakery. Ability to teach food preparation and cooking.
