Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSUMMARY:Perform all necessary duties involved in the day-to-day cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. used by food services. Abide by all safety, sanitary and health codes to ensure compliance withregulatory organizations including CACFP, State Licensing, HS/EHS performance standards, accreditation and other licensing and regulatory agencies, as appropriate. Work as part of the food services team to ensure a quality end product prepared and served efficiently.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Retrieve dishes after each meal from the dining hall and the EHS carts.
  • Wash dishes after each meal and clean and sanitize EHS meal carts.
  • Wash and sanitize sanitizing bucket after each meal service, refill with clean warm soapy water and place in dining room in preparation for next meal.
  • Wash and sanitize gray bus/dish pans after each meal service and place in dining room.
  • Use sanitizer test strip to test sanitizing solution strength of dish machine (white strip) between meal clean up.
  • Use sanitizer test strip to test sanitizing solution strength for pot sink sanitizer (orange strip).
  • Wash all pots/pans from breakfast/lunch service.
  • Store pots/pans.
  • Drain water from dish machine after breakfast and lunch clean up.
  • Clean dish machine room daily.
  • Clean and sanitize 3-compartment sink after breakfast and lunch pot washing daily.
  • Clean and sanitize stainless steel wall by dish machine daily.
  • Clean and sanitize white wall by dish machine and pot sink twice a week (Tues and Thurs).
  • Remove debris from 3 compartment sink at the end of day and discard appropriately.
  • Wash fronts of dish machines and 3 compartment sink fronts daily.
  • Sweep and mop walk-in refrigerator on Friday and as otherwise needed.
  • Assist with accurate labeling and proper storage of groceries.
  • Stock milk cooler each evening.
  • Assist as needed/assigned by Food Service Team Leader.
  • RequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE:
    • Ability to appropriately apply knowledge of nutritional needs of children and adults.
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply safe and sanitary methods of handling food, large equipment, and chemicals.
    • Actively participate in and apply training to meet standards as provided by Head Start, CACFP, etc.
    • Ability to plan and meet deadlines, well organized, and able to work under pressure of multiple deadlines; demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
    • Possesses the ability to work holistically, as part of a team, with staff, program participants and their families towards successful outcomes for program participants.
    • Ability to implement changes when directed.
    • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions
    • Ability to use good judgment when necessary
    • Ability to lift and carry institutional size cans, bowls, pans, and move 30-50 lb cans with assistance
    • Ability to stand and walk for up to 7 hours per day
    • Ability to push or pull equipment such as food carts, mop and buckets
    • Ability to reach above head when placing pans and canned goods on shelves.
    • Ability to bend or squat safely when lifting pans, bowls, pots and cases or when using mop wringers or dust pans
    • Adheres to Agency policies and procedures
    • Acts as a role model within and outside the Agency
    Educational and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Dish washing experience preferred.Salary Description $17.40 hourly
