Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Makes deposits at the end of each shift.
- Inventories and restocks supplies and food products.
- Sets up serving line, ensuring temperatures are taken, recorded and within acceptable ranges; notifies cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
- Serves hot and cold items to customers.
- Sets up items for purchase on daily basis.
- Records replenished amounts on floor stock form for each unit.
- Records designated refrigerator temperatures daily.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Delivers patient meals/snacks/nourishments.
- Collects trays after meal service.
- Delivers and collects patient selective menus.
- Assists patients with menu selection as appropriate.
- Prepares food for, assembles, and serves patient trays using scripts and patient identification procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes nourishment centers and soiled tray carts.
- Ensures all equipment is in working order and reports equipment problems to supervisors.
- Records designated refrigerator temperatures daily.
- Requisitions, delivers, stores, and tallies floor stock and nourishments.
- Ensures all food is labeled and dated.
- Helps receive, date, and put away deliveries; stores in proper refrigerators, freezers, or storeroom; rotates stock; cleans shelves, removes pallets.
- Puts away all produce, equipment, and supplies after end of meal or at end of day; labels as appropriate.
- Uses hospital computer and communication systems for patient meal service.
- Operates Point of Sale system.
- Cashiers according to established procedures, maintaining cash accuracy with receipts.
- Sets up, supplies, and dismantles serving stations and organizes food supplies, dishes, utensils, and disposables according to department procedures (Retail serving lines and Central Kitchen patient tray line).
- Handles food safely following department and healthcare regulatory agency guidelines and standards for the preparation, heating/cooling, labeling, and safe storage of food products, keeps refrigerator stocked and product rotated using the first in, first out rule.
- Cleans, arranges, and sanitizes work, service, and dining areas and cleans equipment frequently using approved chemicals as established by the department and healthcare regulatory agencies. Remove trash to designated areas.
- Performs ware washing activities including soak sink procedures, cart unloading, scrap line operation, pot and pan cleaning, dish machine operation, dish room cleaning, and cart washing.
- Keeps all drains and floors clean, swept, vacuumed, and/or scrubbed as appropriate, including refrigerators, storage areas, production, dish room, service areas, offices, etc.; runs scrubber as assigned.
- Assists in training personnel as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications: - H. S. Diploma or GED required.
- Food Handler Card required within 30 days of hire.
- Foodservice and customer service experience preferred
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English and demonstrate reading ability.
- Good interpersonal skills, outgoing personality, positive and pleasant demeanor at all times.
- Able to demonstrate basic math and computer skills.
- Able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Exhibit critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Able to function in a fast paced work environment.
