May also deliver meals in bulk from senior activity center kitchen to congregate meal sites. Essential Functions
Delivers meals in bulk to the senior activity centers and congregate housing sites;Delivers meals to homes in St. Mary's County and to other directed sites once per week;Checks current status of the seniors in their homes;Maintains records of meals delivered;Maintains County vehicles;Delivers interoffice mail and program supplies;Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures;2. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle;3. Knowledge of County roads;4. Ability to effectively assess and evaluate the consumers' needs;5. Ability to communicate effectively with consumers and staff;6. Knowledge of basic medical principles and concepts. Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D.;Six months to one year of related experience;Or equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work requires moderate physical effort in the handling of materials or boxes in non-strenuous work positions up to 40 pounds and/or continual standing or walking of 80%+ of the time.Work environment involves everyday moderate risks or discomforts including extensive driving.Under the Affordable Care Act/ACA, hourly employees who average at least 30 hours of service per week over a 12 week measurement period are eligible for health insurance benefits. St. Mary's County Government provides sick and safe leave in the amount of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked for seasonal, and temporary employees who are scheduled to work 12 hours or more per week are eligible for leave.
