Maestro Sausage Company, family-owned and operated since the 1920s, is Los Angeles's oldest Italian sausage manufacturer, supplying premium-quality Italian and specialty sausages to Southern California's top restaurants, pizzerias, and foodservice establishments.

This is a new role for our company that is poised for exciting growth and success.

In 2024 we have experienced new distributor placements, embarked on new marketing efforts, and have experienced growth with minimal proactive distributor engagement. This newly created role is a unique opportunity to lead our expansion through California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Key Responsibilities (This list may not include all the duties assigned):

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to expand market reach and increase volume in existing and new territories.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with food distributors, pizzerias, Italian restaurants, and Large Leverage Operators (LLOs).
  • Identify and secure new distribution partners in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
  • Collaborate with distributor sales teams to effectively market and sell products, addressing competition challenges.
  • Conduct business reviews with customers to identify opportunities, address challenges, and drive growth.
  • Provide regular market feedback to management and collaborate on marketing initiatives to support sales.
  • Travel as needed to meet distributors and key accounts, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Support customer onboarding and account satisfaction, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and CRM updates.
  • Coordinate and participate in food shows, sales meetings, and customer and industry events.
  • Prepare reports for senior management and Principals, providing insights on sales, business activity, and market trends.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the foodservice industry, with a focus on sausage products, Italian products, or similar categories.
  • Proven track record of increasing sales and market share, especially in new or underdeveloped markets.
  • Established relationships with food distributors, especially in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed.

Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision, to prioritize/plan your schedule.
  • Able to get along with others and provide superior customer service.
  • Good decision and negotiating skills.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to maintain current and valid driver's license and auto insurance in company required minimums.

Other Requirements Include:

  • Class C license with a clean MVR required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Planner.
  • Experience using CRM software to manage sales activities and track performance.
  • Multi-lingual language skills in any language(s) a big plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent on the road driving; highly concentrated mental and visual alertness.
  • Major portion of the day is spent talking either in-person or by telephone dealing with customer service issues.
  • Frequent up/down motion to perform duties.
  • Typing, calculating or otherwise working with fingers.
  • Visual acuity.
  • Ability to hear and received detailed information.

Equipment / Tools:

  • Company issued personal computer and cell phone.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to and from accounts.

Compensation:

We provide a base salary (to be determined based on experience), bonus or commission structure, medical insurance, and a 401k. Expenses incurred with the position, mileage, etc. are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
