Overview

The Forage Specialist is a key role supporting the US sales team. This role actively contributes to sales team competitiveness through demand creation and generation of our elite forage products and is seen and consulted as the expert in forage across not only just the US but also our global teams. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, this role requires coordination, teamwork, cross functional collaboration, distribution and customers interaction, and a high level of self-initiative. The position is a home-based role, however desired location is west central Midwest and travel will be approx.50%.

Responsibilities:

* Lead the development and delivery of marketing, sales and agronomic training to company employees, channel partners and customers on our forage portfolio to support the dairy & livestock industry.

* Regularly call on distributor partners, dealers/retailers and end user customers

* Serve as face of Advanta to forage industry events, meetings and speaking engagements designed to showcase our portfolio of products and services.

* Provide technical assistance to forage producers and dairy/feedlot producers.

* Coordinate with sales director to establish strategic plan and set targets

* Analyze data to support the benefits of sorghum forage in dairy/feedlot operations.

* Lead yearly process of establishing field demonstrations and trial locations for current and development (innovation) products.

* Collaborate and assist sales team on any complaints, performance and or nutritional advise

* Continuously monitor industry trends, government (local, state, federal) regulations regarding dairy/livestock sector.

* All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in animal science/nutrition, agronomy or related field required, masters and/or PhD preferred

* 5 years' experience working in a technical and or sales role preferably in forage production

* Proficient skills in Microsoft productivity applications

* Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (verbal, written and utilizing all media phone, e-mail, text)

* Problem solving and customer service skills.

* Practical organization skills with strong attention to detail along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments
