Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting the Traffic Signal Manager in the activities of planning, organizing, and directing the various operations, infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, and personnel of the Transportation Department. Develops and maintains traffic analysis, annual counts, traffic signal warrant studies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Directs the daily activities of the Traffic Signal and Right of Way crews* Develops, plans, and schedules the maintenance of traffic signals, school flashers, flashing beacons, communication, coordination plans, pavement markings and city right-of-way* Assists in the installation of traffic signals, controllers, MMU's, video detection equipment, school flashers* Assists in troubleshooting signal problems, identifies and resolves detection issues, conflicts and controller problems, isolates controller, cabinet and field malfunction, removes and replaces components or repair intersection* Repairs traffic signals, school flashers and flashing beacons; replaces or repairs traffic signal heads, hardware, controllers, MMU's, flashers, load switches, and other components* Replaces controller cabinets, repairs/replaces video detection equipment, pull span wire* Consults with citizens, engineers, and contractors regarding projects concerns, and complaints* Follows up and resolves citizen complaints and concerns* Drives to job sites, meetings, picks-up supplies, performs right-of-way assessment and visibility* Manages operations and maintenance of a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment* Writes specifications for vehicles, equipment, and materials* Interviews and selects candidates for employment* Ensures employee adherence to safety policy and ensure proper usage of safety equipment* Uses Cityworks to create service requests and work orders* Assigns and reviews crews work orders for equipment, labor and materials used* Rotates on-call for nights, weekends, holidays, inclement weather, and emergency calls coming into the Transportation Dept* Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines* Performs other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications* High School diploma or equivalent* Three (3) years of experience in electronics or electrical of traffic signal control systems* One year of lead or foreman experienceCertificates, Licenses, & Registrations* Valid Class A CDL* IMSA Traffic Signal Level I* Ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Level II with-in 24 monthsThank you for your interest in the position.
