Position Summary: The Foreman (Transmission) is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance & repair of overhead electrical Transmission systems. This position works in various locations/requires travel to other states depending on customer needs. This is a supervisory role. Minimum Requirements & Expectations (but not limited to):
- Work safely on new construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized/de-energized transmission systems.
- Supervise & give technical guidance to Lineman, Apprentices & Groundman while performing electrical transmission & varying equipment projects.
- Has working knowledge of effective management & leadership skills.
- Responsible for upkeep & safety of all equipment & tools assigned for transmission construction.
- Has the ability to coach & lead entry level employees through work procedures and encourage productivity.
- Able to lead and teach hot stick work on energized lines.
- Holds pre-job/tailgate briefings.
- Able to install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches & switchgear.
- Able to replace cutout fuses in and clear any faulted circuits/systems.
- Capable of leading a crew in assembly & erection of structures.
- Can perform basic bucket rescue.
- Must be able to string overhead wire.
- Setting poles & anchors
- Ability to work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill & care.
- Troubleshooting and overseeing the troubleshooting on primary &secondary systems.
- Proficient in all aspects of distribution linework.
- Must be able to properly sag wire.
- Can properly phase out a line using phasing sticks & understands proper use of phasing sticks.
- Can safely install & remove mechanical jumpers.
- Must understand:
- Grounding procedures
- Minimum approach distances
- How to obtain a one sot on a recloser
- Various types of materials used in line work
- Fully capable of executing hot line work on conductor systems.
- Must be able to identify & locate puller & tensioner setups.
- Able to communicate and take line clearances.
- Must be familiar with induced voltage.
- Must be able to, & familiar with, climbing various structures (wood, steel, etc.) & have the tools to do so.
- Must be able to safely operate equipment.
- Must be able to safely complete a reconductoring job.
- Completes all required safety training, & know/understand DOT and OSHA standard
- Maintains company vehicles/equipment/tools in good working order.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced & at times stressful environment.
- Does all other related work as required to complete the job in its' entirety.
General Expectations & Other Requirements:
- 8-years minimum recent field experience.
- Coordinates & inspects work of crew members.
- Able to complete and comply with all company reporting procedures & complete all necessary company paperwork.
- Has a valid CDL.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work overtime frequently & travel long distances.
- Able to read/write & communicate effectively.
- Must have acceptable MVR/background.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen & adhere to Company drug policy throughout employment.
- Capable of taking & following directions.
- Work as a team member
- Meet E-Verification requirements.
Required Physical Skills:
- Able to perform rigorous physical labor for a continuous period
- Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
- Comfortable & capable or working at heights &/or confined spaces
- Comfortable & capable of working from an aerial device.
- Capable of properly installing, inspecting & removing PPE.
- Ability to wear PPE & understands when to wear it.
- Able to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands & sense of balance.
- Ability to sustain awkward positions/postures.
