DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering semi-skilled maintenance, repair, housekeeping, groundskeeping, and various other tasks related to the facilities, lands, and infrastructure of the Weiser Forest District, specifically within the building, mechanical, and electrical trades. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting the wildfire suppression and prevention initiatives.Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities aimed at preventing and managing wildland fires, as directed by your supervisor and in accordance with your certification. This includes identifying, assessing, and reporting potential wildfire hazards. You will be expected to adhere to all relevant rules, regulations, and policies associated with fire suppression efforts. Maintenance and repair of wildfire suppression equipment and tools will also be part of your duties. When required, you will take on the role of crew leader during fire suppression operations. It is essential to comply with district policies regarding fire season responsibilities, work schedules, and availability during irregular hours. You will respond to wildfires as instructed, working to control the situation or assist with mop-up operations as assigned. Proficiency in operating fire control tools and equipment is necessary, and you will be responsible for notifying your supervisor of any potential fire hazards. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch.
  • This position may require travel and overtime.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
  • This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
