Job Description:

Position Overview

This position operations forklifts, pickers, golf carts, and tractors. The Fork Truck Driver position is responsible for loading and unloading vehicles, managing inventory using bar code scanners, picking, and delivering of material to departments, among other duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate a forklift in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Load, unload, and receive warehouse items.
  • Manage inventory using barcodes and scanners.
  • Pick orders as requested by departments and deliver material in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Receive, count, tag, and put away incoming inventory.
  • Inspect and schedule maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate and manage technical equipment, including forklifts, pickers, golf carts, and tractors.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, neat, and well organized.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Review and analyze data and information concerning incoming loads.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor unloading activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment); report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements including Safe Product Handling, Safe Lift, Safe Forklift and Pallet Jack Operation.

Travel

Minimal travel between the Quaker campuses is required to backup similar positions.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to operate a forklift according to safety and OSHA Standards
  • Maintain a Forklift Certification

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High school diploma or a passed General Education Development test preferred
  • 1 - 2 Years Manufacturing Experience

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

This is a manufacturing job. The employee must be able to:

  • regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds;
  • work shifts of at least 8 hours, and occasionally longer, for 5 days each week;
  • sit or stand for prolonged periods;
  • occasionally stand, bend, climb, pull or balance; and stoop, twist, stretch, kneel, crouch or crawl as necessary
  • It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee's work location. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
