Forklift Driver
Steel service center with plant in Bryan seeks outstanding and experienced forklift driver. Candidates with at least three years of sit down forklift experience will be considered. Ideal candidate will have experience handling skids of metal sheets.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the plant manager, the forklift driver will operate the fork truck to move material within the plant and load and unload trucks.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that fork truck is in good working order with daily pre-shift inspections; Report all equipment malfunctions to manager and/or maintenance immediately.
- Maintaining safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic; following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Prompt, daily attendance
- Sweeping and cleaning up work area as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Three years forklift operating experience preferred. OSHA forklift certification is a plus.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds
- Basic math, tape measure and micrometer skills required
- Must be able to physically operate forklift equipment (climb up and down into cab, twist torso for 360 degree visibility, use arms to operate controls, etc.).
- Successfully pass a pre-placement physical, pre-placement drug screening and employment verification
- Excellent work attendance record, ability to report to work as scheduled and flexibility to work overtime as assigned.
