Youth LifeSet SupervisorFair Futures- NYCLOCATION: NYC & Long Island PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As part of SCO's Forward Journey Initiative, the Youth LifeSet Supervisor manages a team of Specialists to implement the LifeSet model, which addresses the needs of young people 17-22 who are transitioning out of foster care and need individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood. Staff support youth obtain and maintain safe and suitable housing, continue their education, learn independent living skills, obtain and maintain employment, build a support system, and remain free from legal involvement.REPORTS TO: Program DirectorSUPERVISES: Unit of 4-5 LifeSet Specialists.I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESThe Supervisor is primarily responsible for serving as the clinical leader and direct supervisorfor a team of 4 to 5 LifeSet Specialists. The Supervisor: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws. Provides clinical direction to the Specialists based on the LifeSet model, which includes weekly management and facilitation of the group supervision process by direct case review, overseeing service plan development, and ensuring case progress. Provides crisis intervention when needed and is on call 24/7 to support youth and specialists during crises. Collaborates with the clinical consultant on staff development interventions. Ensures documentation and contractual requirements are met. Assists with coverage for Specialists when needed (e.g. vacations and sick leave), Supports staff when attending court and in meetings with collateral contacts, and conducts field supervision to ensure Specialist competency. Manages the professional development of each Specialist by developing a plan for each Specialist and holds individual supervision meetings and staff meetings. Is involved in the hiring and performance management of Specialists. Will be required to work in Brooklyn and Queens locations.II. QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Degree: Master's in social work (or equivalent degree); Extensive Experienceworking with Youth; Supervisory ExperienceOther skills and requirements:1. Ability to develop and manage staff.2. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, a strong sense of empathy towards our populations served, and a passion for the field of child welfare.3. Ability to respond to the unique developmental needs of youth in different stages of maturation.4. Ability to work with youth that have histories of chemical dependency, mental illness, neglect, physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, different cultural backgrounds, and varying socioeconomics statuses.5. Ability to work in the community and be flexible with time to respond effectively to the individual needs of youth.6. Ability to work competently, compassionately, and without judgment with individuals who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, or who may be in different stages of discovering or disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity.7. Strong time management skills, diligence, resilience, and experience working in a unit or team.8. Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.9. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with CONNECTIONS preferred.10. Valid NYS Driver's License preferred.11. Bilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply.12.
