GENERAL SUMMARY:The MMC Foundation and Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the foundation, community relations and marketing activities of the Merrick Medical Center and Merrick Medical Center Foundation.. These responsibilities are accomplished through collaboration with the leadership of MMC and the Board of Directors of MMCF. The overreaching job functions include but are not limited to community and public relations, image and brand development, donor and board relations, development and fundraising.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned.
  • Serves as Service Excellence champion including implementation, competencies, and hardwiring of service excellence initiatives.
  • Oversees formulations of department goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources; and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls.
  • Keeps informed of current issues including new procedures, developments, and innovation. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Performs service excellence must-haves to achieve an excellent patient/customer experience
  • Executes problem identification, data gathering and implementation of strategy actions that are in the best interest of the organization and its mission, values and philosophy.
  • Attends meetings, prepares reports, analyzes and provides recommendations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Acts as MMC's ambassador, along with the Senior Leadership team, MMC Board, MMCF Board, and Providers to cultivate community involvement and relationships within the Merrick County communities.
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the Merrick Medical Center Foundation and coordinates the MMCF of Directors including board committees in conjunction with the Foundation Board Chair.
  • Acts as the Executive Director of the Foundation and partners with the Finance department to maintain accurate banking, record keeping, gift processing & acknowledgements, lifetime giving, donor recognition, budgeting and tax documents.
  • Coordinates with MMC Director of Finance or Accountant to provide monthly financial statements to the MMCF Board, annual reports to the audit firm, and ensures tax reporting including 990 and 1099s.
  • Works with the Merrick Medical Center Foundation and MMC Director of Finance or Accountant to manage investment funds.
  • Designs, plans and executes all fundraisings initiatives including, but not limited to annual community and employee fundraising. Coordinates community outreach events, year-end giving, estate planning and other fundraising related programs.
  • Recruits, trains and maintains positive volunteer relationships related to fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintains and ensures appropriate internal controls related to fundraising records, the electronic donor database, and finances as reported to the MMCF Board.
  • Leads, represents, and maintains positive relations with MMCF Auxiliary and Auxiliary Thrift Shop.
  • Develops, plans and executes promotions, communication, and long/short-term brand development strategies in collaboration with Bryan Health Advancement.
  • Acts as a resource to promote new physicians, service lines, events, activities and special projects
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent preferred. Minimum of five (5) years' experience working with non-profit, philanthropic groups or equivalent required.
