Position Summary

As a Research Associate within UCLA Development's Office of Foundation Relations and Corporate Philanthropy (FRCP), you can advance your career while making a significant impact as part of a university that is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world for academics, research and community impact. Our FRCP team supports faculty and research administration in their fundraising needs. Across the university, UCLA receives more than $1B annually in competitively awarded grants & contracts annually. FRCP works closely with colleagues across campus to contribute to these overall efforts, focusing specifically on private philanthropic organizations, including foundations and corporate donors. Working collaboratively with FRCP's frontline fundraisers and UCLA's leadership, faculty, and staff, you will research and identify philanthropic support for partnerships across campus that align with UCLA's goals and mission. We welcome your strong prior experience and demonstrated abilities in prospect research, strategy, knowledge and expertise to help us expand existing and create new partnerships that increase our base of private foundation and corporate philanthropic funders. As our FRCP Research Associate, you will provide strategic analysis, direction and customized research to aid the fundraising efforts of our foundation and corporate donors. Salary & Compensation

* UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

Prior experience and strong demonstrated abilities in prospect research with understanding of foundation and corporate philanthropy giving trends and ability to match campus opportunities for beneficial prospect involvement. (Required) Demonstrated experience in and/or ability to validate results from statistical methods and tool; ability to proactively request analytics model to further enhance giving opportunities. (Required) Ability to interpret individual's wealth indicators, including stock/real estate holdings; ability to apply knowledge of demographic information to wealth indicators. (Required)Advanced knowledge of research methodology and ethical standards; ability to apply statistical findings to data resources in order to identify trends, relationships and UCLA affinity. (Required)Ability to verify giving capacity of the overall prospect pool for a fundraiser and for a unit. (Required)Strong knowledge of and/or ability to understand the foundation and corporate funder cultivation process as well as ability to identify funder engagement opportunities. (Required)Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with and prepare research profiles and briefings for campus leadership, including the Chancellor. (Required)Excellent presentation skills for participation in strategic planning and prospect qualification meetings. (Required)Advanced skill in understanding financial activity; ability to summarize relevant information from websites, annual reports and other information sources. (Required)Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision making and in handling confidential matters/materials with tact and sensitivity. (Required)Highly detail oriented with demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team; set priorities and complete projects within specified timeframes under minimal supervision. (Required)Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.; able to learn new software and technologies in a prompt and efficient manner. (Required)
