Scrap & Metallic Processor KSB GIW, Inc. Department: Grovetown Foundry Reports to: Foundry Supervisor Location: Grovetown Shift: 1st FLSA Status: Hourly OVERVIEW: The Scrap and metallic Processor plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and efficiency within the scrap yard environment. This position requires adherence to all safety procedures and company policies and promotes a culture where safety is the top priority. The processor must operate various heavy equipment and cranes while ensuring that the scrap yard remains organized and efficient through effective inventory management and excellent housekeeping practices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety and Quality Leadership:

  • Follows all safety procedures and promotes safety as job #1.
  • Adheres to company rules and policies to foster a safe working environment.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Assists team leaders in achieving operational goals.
  • Possesses the necessary skills to train in any scrap yard area for continuous development.
Decision-Making and Initiative:
  • Operates heavy equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, dump trucks, and P&H machinery, demonstrating initiative and responsibility.
  • Performs general maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
Planning and Coordination:
  • Keeps the scrap yard organized for efficient operations.
  • Manages the scrap area for incoming and outgoing scrap materials to maintain workflow.
Inventory and Asset Management:
  • Processed truck slips to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Keeps waste bins full and effectively manages scrap inventory.
Training and Communication:
  • Understands the chemistry of different iron types and can communicate this knowledge effectively.
  • Knows how to use Excel spreadsheets for data management and reporting.
Supervision and Delegation:
  • Takes on any other necessary jobs, showing flexibility and a willingness to contribute wherever needed.
  • Demonstrates leadership by supervising the scrap area and delegating tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Rudimentary math skills are sometimes required.
Knowledge
  • Must possess all skills necessary to train in any scrap yard area. These could be acquired in previous work experience outside of KSB GIW or by satisfactorily completing the prescribed course at GIW of training necessary.

  • Frequently: Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling
