JOB SUMMARY The primary focus of the position is to assemble the framework structure essential for the construction of houses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut material to specified measurements
- Assemble the major structural elements of a wood-framed building
- Build walls out of studs, sills, and headers
- Build floors from joists and beams
- Frame roofs using ridge poles and rafters or trusses
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding
- Install windows and doors
- Verify trueness of structure
- Perform all duties within the scope of AVB Safety Guidelines and maintain a safe and clean environment
- Report any safety violations on site to the Project Manager
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Achieved a high school diploma or GED
- Read specifications from blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare for project layout
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes a motor vehicle report
- Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
- Must have reliable transportation
- Comfortable working at significant heights in various weather conditions
- Understanding of math functions and calculations involving fractions
- Must be able to safely work with hand tools, machines, and other power equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work environment described here represents what the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works primarily at construction job sites in a variety of weather conditions and terrains. This job is performed with prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and carry heavy objects, such as framing lumber, sheets of plywood, and other building materials.
