Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations will provide expertise and strategic insight for management the Annual Fund Program and increasing engagement among our alumni population, The Director's primary responsibility is the strategic development, execution and management of a comprehensive Annual Giving Program. The position is responsible for achieving year-over-year increases in annual gifts and pledges, utilizing best practices an implementing a fully multi-channel approach to annual fundraising. This includes targeted solicitation as well as Stewardship efforts utilizing mail, e-mail, phone and social media to secure new donors, steward and upgrade existing donors, and secure multi-year pledges at annual giving levels. To accomplish this work, the Director works closely in collaboration with the Communication and Institutional Advancement Services staff. The Director is also responsible for contributing to the creation of a Donor Pipeline, coordinating efforts with the relationship-building activities of Major and Planned Giving staff. This role offers the opportunity to be entrepreneurial and creative. The Director serves as the liaison with the University Alumni Association and works closely with the leadership of the Association to increase awareness, involvement and to strengthen membership. #CB

Job Standards and Performance Expectations

* Oversee the development, implementation and management of a comprehensive Annual Giving Program. Generates increasing levels and numbers of gifts from alumni and friends through effective annual giving solicitations.

* Actively engages the Catholic and Franciscan mission and identity of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University by modeling the Franciscan Values, promoting justice for the communities we serve, and integrating the Catholic and Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs and services.

* Research best practices in Annual Giving.

* Oversee the testing of Annual Giving initiatives and conducts statistical analysis of current programs.

* Meet with Institutional Advancement staff and other stakeholders to develop the Annual Giving Strategy and ensure the ongoing support of this strategy.

* Plan, develop and monitor Annual Giving budget to support the Strategy; Ensure maximum cost-benefit ratio is achieved.

* Review statistical data in order to evaluate the progress of the Annual Giving Strategy.

* Consult and advise the Institutional Advancement staff on collaborative projects and assigned projects.

* Develop and maintain a Prospect List with a goal of ten (10) internal and external visits monthly, focused on increasing engagement and support.

* Direct and oversee telephone, direct mail and e-campaign solicitation projects.

* Remain up to date on current fundraising, direct marketing, and volunteer management programs, practices and procedures being used in the not-for-profit sector, as well as current tax law affecting annual charitable giving.

* Work directly with the leadership of the Alumni Association to engage new alumni and to grow and strengthen the Association's membership.

* Advise campus leadership, faculty, and other units on Annual Giving Best Practices and represent Annual Giving interests on campus.

* Make recommendations to faculties and other units on Annual Giving Strategies.

* Serve on University Committees in order to represent Annual Giving interests.

* Report Annual Giving results periodically to campus community, Development Committee and Board of Trustees.

* Oversee the solicitation of alumni and friends to ensure maximum participation in support of the University.

* Coordinate the central Annual Giving initiatives with other initiatives on campus in order to maximum results.

* Work with campus community and external relations partners, coordinates planning, sets objectives, establishes strategies and monitors progress for all annual giving initiatives.

* Plan the comprehensive calendar for Annual Giving initiatives.

* Creates a comprehensive timeline for Annual Giving projects and appeals.

* Development Administration

* Work closely with the Director of Development in determining long-term fundraising objectives, strategies, implementation plans, and reporting mechanisms to evaluate progress.

* Works with the Institutional Advancement Services Team on special requirements in the area of gift acknowledgement.

* Review donor lists for accuracy to support activities do Donor Relations and Stewardship.

* Participate as an active member of the Prospect Management Team and other department, external relations or University groups, as required.

* Collaborate with staff on gift processing, alumni/donor records and Donor Relations to contribute added-value to database integrity.

* Assist where required and appropriate in Institutional Advancement projects and such, as Donor Relations events, Alumni Events and Fundraising Planning.

* Embrace and advance the Catholic and Franciscan mission of the University by ensuring that all Development administrative activities are consistent with the mission and implemented to achieve its goals.

Experience:

* A minimum of two (2) years of experience in an educational setting, general fundraising or sales and marketing experience with a general understanding of fundraising principles.

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree, required
