Our client is looking for a talented designer for Women's Casual Bottoms. Role is five days a week, hybrid schedule in their midtown NYC office. Role for now for at least 7 months to start. This role will support the Women's Bottoms team on all aspects of the product lifecycle from concept to final development with direction from the category's leader. Responsibilities:
- Support the senior design team and have the ability to assess the relationship of different categories season to season
- Work on and partner with senior leaders on monthly presentations and be able to confidently field questions from executive leadership team
- Research current market trends seasonally and translate them into the AE design aesthetic and philosophy
- Work with technical department in all aspects of development and fit procedures
- Partner with merchants to ensure customer needs and choice counts are covered each season
- Establish full working knowledge of raw materials and work with team to source seasonal and new core fabrics
- Partner with production team to achieve the highest quality product within the cost structure that is needed
- Collaborate with Concept team to objectively evaluate assortment and give objective feedback of the entire collection
- Able to work in a hybrid environment, meaning that some work may be performed remotely but certain essential functions must be performed in-person/in-office Monday-Thursday
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education)
- Experience working in Apparel needed, bottoms experience is a plus
- 5+ years related experience
- Keen eye for color, trend, detail and construction
- Working knowledge of Illustrator and PLM is a crucial
- Ability to act as liaison between many departments; excellent communication and analytic skills
- Great presentation and communication skills
- Comfortable working in an hybrid environment - working in office as well as remote work from home
