People Architects is excited to partner with our Stark County based client as we recruit for our Freight Manager. Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing D2C tech-enabled consumer products company that is building a global growth platform, acquiring and evolving e-commerce brands into household brands.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Freight Manager to oversee and optimize our logistics operations, ensuring smooth and cost-effective shipping of products from suppliers to our warehouse and ultimately to our customers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of freight management, including negotiating with carriers, monitoring shipping costs, and maintaining high delivery standards. This role is crucial for supporting our Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) and eCommerce business model by ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and manage relationships with domestic and international carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs.
- Negotiate competitive shipping rates and establish service-level agreements (SLAs) with carriers.
- Develop a carrier evaluation matrix to track performance metrics, including on-time delivery, damage rates, and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule inbound and outbound freight shipments for multiple distribution channels.
- Optimize shipment methods, routes, and load capacities to minimize costs and reduce lead times.
- Implement and oversee freight consolidation strategies to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with national and international shipping regulations, including customs documentation, export/import regulations, and hazardous materials handling.
- Maintain accurate records of freight shipments, carrier invoices, and delivery documentation.
- Collaborate with the Inventory and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless stock replenishment and order fulfillment processes.
- Coordinate product transfers between facilities and manage storage requirements as needed.
- Monitor freight costs and provide regular reports on cost savings, shipment accuracy, and carrier performance.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement in the supply chain.
- Act as the primary point of contact for any shipping or delivery issues, resolving them quickly to minimize disruption to customer orders.
- Ensure a high standard of communication and service quality to support the company's customer satisfaction goals.
Qualifications (required and preferred):
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight management or logistics, preferably in a D2C or eCommerce environment.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficient in freight management systems and software (e.g., TMS, WMS).
- Analytical skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- CCLP, CLTD, or similar certifications in logistics and supply chain management.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive and results-driven mindset.
