French and Spanish Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking teachers who teach both French and Spanish to fill in-person roles for several K-12 private and independent schools in the Connecticut area.

The schools are looking for a French/Spanish teachers beginning in the fall of 2024. Specific assignment will comprise multiple sections of each French and Spanish - levels to be determined based on needs of the school. They seek dynamic candidates who will participate eagerly in the broad life of the School, and those who will actively advance the School's mission.

Responsibilities of French/Spanish Teacher:

• Works collaboratively with colleagues in the department and on the grade-level teams
• Implements the shared advisory curriculum
• Prepares daily and long-range lesson plans
• Creates engaging lessons to supplement the textbook
• Ability to teach without strictly following the textbook
• Offers additional help to students outside of class
• Assesses individual and group skills, using a variety of assessment tools
• Posts resources electronically and observes resource guidelines
• Keeps appropriate and accurate records in the schools learning management system
• Completes report cards and progress reports professionally and punctually
• Communicates constructively with parents
• Attends school meetings
• Participates in appropriate committee work within the school community
• Pursues professional development opportunities, both individually and collaboratively
• Responds to student issues by referral to school counseling and/or appropriate administrative staff

Preferred Qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree in Spanish, French, or a related field
• Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience teaching at the middle or upper school level
