GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Floater Front Desk Clerk is a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and effective patient care within the clinic. This position requires flexibility and adaptability as it involves rotating between various front desk areas including Harlingen Adult, Pediatric, and Call Center departments. The primary responsibilities include patient communication, appointment scheduling, maintaining accurate patient records, and contributing to a patient-centered care approach.
When not covering a specific role, this position will focus on Pediatric schedules.
This position will cover the weekdays or extended hours when needed by the clinic.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (with or without accommodations)
Participation in Morning or Afternoon Huddles:
* Actively engage in huddles to inform the team about confirmed patients for the day, identify scheduling gaps, and strategize for same-day access opportunities.
* Collaborate closely with clinical staff to ensure comprehensive understanding of patients' needs.
Teamwork Rotation:
* Rotate between front desk areas to ensure adequate department coverage.
* Adapt quickly to different clinic settings including Pediatrics and Internal Medicine departments.
Patient Communication and Appointment Scheduling:
* Assist patients in routing calls and scheduling appointments that align with their needs.
* Educate patients on the importance of appointment adherence and medication documentation.
* Emphasize culturally and linguistically appropriate communication with patients.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
* Ensure all patient information in the computer system is current and accurate.
* Obtain necessary documentation, signatures, and route to appropriate departments for processing.
* Enter all appointments accurately into the computer system.
Patient Care Coordination:
* Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to achieve patient care objectives.
* Maintain full schedules for assigned physicians and mid-level providers.
* Confirm appointments in advance and reschedule no-show appointments promptly.
Professionalism and Compliance:
* Attend trainings and meetings as required.
* Maintain a friendly and safe environment for staff and patients.
* Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per training.
* Adhere to clinic policies and procedures, including refraining from informal communication with patients and others.
* Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, behavior, and conduct at all times.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (use of equipment, job related knowledge, language, etc.)
Knowledge of front desk procedures, techniques, and practices.
Knowledge of computer software (EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) programs and other office equipment..
Knowledge of Su Clinica Policies and Procedures, cultural, safety etc.
Customer relations and communication skills
Skilled in excellent interpersonal skills reflecting clarity, diplomacy and communicates accurately and effectively.
Skilled in following through, multi-tasking, prioritizing and attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
Ability to learn PCMH Model, Accountable Care Organization (ACO)
Ability to read, write and spell correctly in English and Spanish
Able to lift 20 pounds
Ability to prepare records in accordance to detailed instructions.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule. (Follow overtime policy)
Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors.
Ability to resolve patient service issues and exercise independent judgment
Ability to apply critical thinking skills while performing daily responsibilities.
Ability to present positive image of Su Clinica
Ability to fully comply with the enhanced infection control requirements of the clinic.
Minimum Qualifications/Certificates/Licenses/Registrations Required: High School Diploma or GED. Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish). One year experience as front desk clerk or appointments clerk in a hospital or clinic setting. Excellent customer service skills is a must.
Special Instructions: Due to the nature of SCF Services, it may be necessary for employees to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift to ensure adequate care to patients and to maintain service to the community.
