For those visiting campus, attending a conference at Monona Terrace, doing business downtown, or coming to see the sights, Best Western Premier Park Hotel has everything they need for a premier Madison experience.Anticipated Start Date 9/5/24 Anticipated Hours Per Week 16 Schedule:Great job for students - flexible days available! Most shifts are 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm. Positions with at least 2 and up to 5 shifts per week are availble. Evenings and weekends required and work well around a class schedule!Salary/Wage Range: Hourly $16.00 to $21.00 Number Of Positions 3 Position Summary/Job Duties:A Front Desk Clerk represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest's stay by working with all hotel personnel to ensure every guest experiences superior customer care. Responsibilities include registering guests, assigning rooms, accommodating special requests, ensuring the guests have a pleasant stay and smooth checkout, and sharing your knowledge and love of all things Madison.
  • Maintain an inventory of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the reservations department. Take same-day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Know cancellation procedures.
  • Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Register arriving guests and assign rooms.
  • Coordinate room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests.
  • Coordinate guest room maintenance work with the engineering and maintenance division.
  • Use persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
  • Know daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel and Madison.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or requests to a manager.
  • Manage and resolve guest concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Process guest check-outs and handle monetary transactions.
  • Maintain customers' privacy.
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Have and share knowledge of surrounding areas and local events.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous hotel-related experience beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to communicate with public, hotel staff, and management in a professional manner.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to proper credit, check cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures. Able to properly secure guest information.
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
