**Responsibilities**

JOB SUMMARY: The Daytime Switchboard Receptionist /Admin Assistant is primarily responsible for efficient and effective patient and telephone reception within the Hospital providing courteous greeting and infromation to all callers. Records messages for medical staff and ensures prompt delivery of messages. Greet clients in the reception area and monitors lobby and exits. Additional responsibilities include communicating all updated information regarding hospital policy and procedure changes, weekly facility events and special visitors, safety rules, and special project instructions to all reception staff. In addition to orienting new hires to the department and providing ongoing education and retraining for exisiting staff as needed, this role will be expected to create, implement and evaluate improvements for the reception/lobby area and systems for improved communication. Any equipment functionality issues or procedural issues are to be immediately reported to administration. This role will also provide clerical support to various departments within the hospital. Though reception will be the first priority, projects can be completed during lulls in reception activity such as typing, colating assessment packets, chart assembly, rsvps for events, and other clerical projects as assigned.

**Qualifications**

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Education: High School diploma Experience: 2 years reception experience preferred Licensure/Certification: None Knowledge: Working knowledge of Hospital safety policy and procedures. Excellent communications skills Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred. Clerical skilss including alphabetizing and typing. For project completion, must be able to multi-task and be detail-oriented, organized, and thorough. Must have strong time management skills to insure timely completion of clerical projects as assigned Supervision Received: Executive Assistant to the CEO Supervision Exercised: None Line of Promotion: Communications Supervisor Environmental Conditions: Works in Hospital lobby. Possible exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally in clear concise manner. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
