Job Description:

This position supports general day to day administrative and office duties including support for patient appointment scheduling, patient check in, collecting insurance co-pays, receiving, and making phone calls, filing, and scanning.

  • Greet patients in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain an understanding and cross trained proficiency to assist the general operations of the medical office and clinic including scheduling, check in and co-pay collection procedures, understanding of insurance eligibility and authorization for care process. May be asked to assist in patient insurance eligibility determination.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in the clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This role requires frequent walking, standing, and sitting and bending, squatting, kneeling, stretching and periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position. Shifts will be assigned in advance and can vary between the hours of 6:00am to 7:30pm.

Travel

No overnight travel is expected for this position. May be asked occasionally to be available to work at alternate Ortho RI locations.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Discretion to work with confidential information.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Regulations
  • Pertinent job-related experience and Medical Terminology
  • Bilingual Spanish or Portuguese a plus
  • Experience in the orthopedic or exercise setting
