Position Summary:The City of Independence is seeking a responsible, hardworking, dedicated, friendly, energetic, and fun individual with a passion for serving the community to serve as a Front Desk Team Member to perform key administrative functions in support of the Community Services Team.Days,Hours & Additional Employment Details:The Community Services Front Desk Team Member is a part-time position, on-site and working 20 hours a week, Monday - Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM. There will be weeks periodically throughout the year where working days, weekends and holidays are required that may result in an adjusted schedule and/or compensatory or overtime.Duties and Responsibilities: Perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of Community Services programs, activities, events, and servicesInteract and communicate in written and verbal formats with residents, guests, colleagues, and team members to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, etc. in such a way that continues to foster the safe, fun, and educational environment of the Civic CenterAnswer telephone calls, e-mails, and in-person inquiries, providing general department and program-specific information and/or directing individuals to the appropriate person or departmentCompile, copy, sort, and file records and documents in line with Community Services policies and proceduresReceive incoming mail and respond or distribute accordinglyRegister residents and guests for various programs, activities, events, trips, and services and process payments in accordance with department procedures for enrolling participantsAttend training seminars and meetings as requiredPerform other duties as assigned Requirements: Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, program, activities, events, and services simultaneously, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are metAbility to operate office standard office equipment including, photocopiers and scanners, voicemail systems and personal computers; operate laminator when neededBe intrinsically motivated to work independently while still having a team-oriented mentalityAvailability to work some weekends, and holidaysRepresent the City of Independence in a professional manner Necessary Competencies: Written & Verbal CommunicationCustomer ServiceProblem SolvingPrioritizingAttention to detailTeamworkPlanning and Organizing Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Required)Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience in an office environmentMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Database Software; SportsMan (Preferred) Successful background check and pre-employment screening required.
