Overview

The Operating Crew Test Supervisor is responsible for executing flushes, activation, and testing, of ship propulsion systems, supporting auxiliary systems and prime movers on 2nd shift. Responsibilities also include supervising safe ship operations during sea trials. The OC Test Supervisor will direct the activities of Department 09OC test mechanics and coordinate activities with multiple trades including pipe, machinery, electrical, and vent on 2nd shift. All tasks are planned and executed with safety as the highest priority. The OC System Test supervisor reports to the Second Shift Test Superintendent.

* Develop and maintain procedures and processes to ensure compliance with test standards and safe operating practices.

* Train and supervise test mechanics to activate, test, operate, and maintain assigned systems on all ship classes

* The Operating Crew Test Supervisor is responsible for:

* Ship Propulsion Systems

* Propulsion and power distribution cooling systems

* Distributed sea water service and firefighting systems

* High and low pressure Air systems

* Potable water systems and fixtures

* Fuels storage, service, and purification systems

* Lubrication oil systems

* Gas Turbines and Diesel Engines

* Understand and use the ships centralized Machinery Control System and local control system interfaces for ship operations

* Support the ship test management team by planning and coordinating Operating Crew System test and certification activities with other test and construction events

* Foster and maintain a culture of safety in the workplace

Responsibilities

Navy or Maritime ship engineering plant operating experience

Qualifications

Required experience:

Propulsion and auxiliary systems operation

General computer skills, including competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and Access, and experience with web-based data management tools

Ability and desire to work in a team environment

Preferred experience:

OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy processes and procedures in marine or industrial environment

NFPA 70E Electrical Safety process and procedures

Problem resolution and root cause identification processes

Well developed aural and written presentation skills

Unique/Additional Requirements:

US Government Secret security clearance

Able to maintain organization in the dynamic environment of ship construction and testing

Position requires occasional night and weekend work
