Job Description:

Tech Ops / Development Team Frontend Developer About our search Cheil Dallas is searching for an exceptionally well-rounded Frontend Developer to help us create thoughtful, strategy-driven, passion-fueled digital experiences for mobile and web. About us Cheil Worldwide is the 11th-largest creative agency in the world. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, we were founded by Samsung in 1973 to grow its local and global business. While Samsung is still one of our main clients, our roster has evolved to include other globally recognized brands such as Adidas, PayPal, ESPN, Lego, Coca-Cola, Nivea, Starbucks and many more. Cheil Dallas serves as the lead agency for all Samsung projects in North America and is located steps from their office at Legacy Central in Plano, Texas. It's the home base for more than 200 creative problem-solvers who share a passion for developing groundbreaking ideas rooted in data, driven by insights, and enabled by innovative technology. And that brings us to you... or rather you to us. Pushing boundaries of traditional marketing requires a curious mind undeterred by the never-been-done. You're a tinkerer, someone who likes to take things apart to figure out how they work, and then put them back together to work even better. You're a technology enthusiast and generalist, with extensive experience with frontend development. You love CSS, animations, interactions, and probably find yourself dabbling with WebGL for cutting-edge effects. About you Who you are is just as important as (if not more important than!) what you can do.

  • You have extensive professional experience working with HTML, CSS, and JS.
  • You know how to set up a project in GitHub, manage a README markdown file, and put triggers in place for automatically deploying branches to specific staging/production environments
  • You are a proactive problem solver who always looks to provide the simplest and most efficient solution to help solve problems
  • You're a naturally curious continuous learner
  • You're a good colleague who cares about the well-being of your team members
  • You work well on inter-team collaboration with digital producers, creatives, and account services
  • You probably make comments at happy hour like, That doesn't really live up to the agile manifesto, or, Maybe it's just me, but I feel like good enough is sometimes good enough, or possibly even, I have a strong preference for two-space tabs.
  • If you go quiet on Slack, it's probably because you're reading developer documentation
About the role Like you, this job is multidimensional. And every aspect is crucial to creating culturally relevant work.
  • Work with designers to convert their creative vision into a fully functional, polished experience
  • Work with digital producers and business analysts to understand specific functional requirements and adhere to project timelines
  • Develop frontend experiences, optimizing for maximum speed and scalability
  • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability and meet product stakeholder requirements
  • Build best-in-class frontend experiences with crisp UIs and inspiring interactivity
  • Help scope new business opportunities, providing technical recommendations and estimates based on provided requirements
  • Manage, oversee, and help grow our junior developers
  • Stay on top of the latest trends in our industry
About the requirements You've got to check the boxes before you can think outside of them.
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a developer
  • Languages and Technology
    • HTML and CSS: Mastery over HTML5 and CSS3 for building frontend experiences from scratch
    • JavaScript: Expert proficiency in modern JavaScript
    • APIs: Experience with fetching API data
    • Experience with or willingness to learn modern WebGL and CSS-driven 2D and 3D development with libraries such three.js and GSAP
    • Other: Knowledge of other languages and tech stacks is a plus but not strictly required (e.g. PHP, Typescript)
  • Frameworks and Libraries
    • Sass: Understanding of CSS pre-processers
    • Modern frontend libraries: Experience with React, Vue, or similar framework
  • Environments and Version Control
    • Experience working with package managers (NPM, Yarn, etc.) and build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
    • Experience working with GitHub and deployment pipelines
  • Ability to quickly understand creative design files, design systems, and layouts in order to build websites and web apps to spec
  • Ability to quickly understand, simplify, internalize, and communicate complex digital concepts
  • Ability to negotiate trade-offs to get alignment with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and evolving business needs
  • Passionate, positive, and solution oriented
  • Strong appreciation for user experience
