Job Description:

About Fid Labs

Fid Labs is building developer tools tailor-made for robotics, powered by the latest in generative AI. Our coding agent, Fid, understands systems programming languages, tools, and workflows, and makes it easy to work with niche or custom hardware components. By redefining embedded software workflows that have been stagnant for decades, we're enabling anyone to build the next generation of robotics, industrials, aerospace, and autonomous vehicles. We have raised $1.7mm in pre-seed funding from top VCs, including 8VC and Boost VC, and recently launched our first product.

The Role

As the first dedicated frontend engineer at Fid Labs, you will lead the design and technical direction of our new web app, in addition to supporting and integrating with our existing VS Code extension. You will learn about the workflows of robotics teams and develop a platform that meets their highly-specific needs. You will also work side-by-side with the founding team of Fid Labs and experience all facets of building a startup. The role is primarily in-person in New York City, but with flexibility around occasional remote work needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own entire frontend of a new product and make confident decisions on design and technical direction
  • Work across the entire product lifecycle from concept to production
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other code owners and leadership
  • Shape the culture, values, and processes of a young and rapidly growing engineering team

Requirements

  • 3+ years of frontend software engineering experience
  • Proficiency with web technologies and frontend programming languages such as TypeScript
  • Proven track record of highly impactful and functional UI/UX design
  • Working knowledge of algorithms, data structures, systems performance, and the backend infrastructure your frontend code leverages
  • Experience building developer tools, DevOps/infrastructure interfaces, metrics dashboards, or other operations tooling
  • Experience with the VS Code API will make you stand out
  • Ability to learn quickly, operate independently, and exercise sound technical judgment with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and rapid iteration cycles
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or active Green Card holder (this also means we are unable to sponsor any visa)

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity compensation
  • Unlimited PTO
  • WFH as-needed
  • Healthcare, commuter, fitness, and other benefits
  • Lunches provided in office
