Position summaryThis position is responsible for the execution of all activities of the FSQA department technicians to include food safety programs, specification adherence, and product quality for products within their assigned facility and shift.Essential FunctionsDuties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assuring that the FSQA team members adhere to all Safety policies and procedures to include Lock Out Tag Out protocols during equipment sanitation inspections.
- Training and development of the hourly FSQA team members. Enforcement of company policies through coaching, verification, and accountability.
- Verification, through routine (Daily) auditing for compliance to regulatory, customer, and Peco FSQA policies and procedures and the associated documentation required by all. Including HACCP and GMP programs, prerequisites, customer procedures, etc.
- Verification that finished product conforms to customer and Peco specifications; Routine verification of FSQA team member sampling procedures to maintain accurate and consistent sampling protocols in accordance with customer and Peco specifications. Assure that all data is being entered into data collection systems in accordance with customer requirements
- Follow-up on product issues and audit results as directed by the FSQA Manager
- Verification of pre- operational program through organoleptic and surface ATP or APC sampling. Assure appropriate corrective actions or taken for areas that are not in compliance with plant SSOP procedures. Provide reporting and feedback to the plant management team. Communicate with USDA as needed during plant FSIS verification activities.
- Participate in facility and foreign material prevention best practices audits.
- Assure that test kitchen on assigned shift is conducting cook offs and other testing at the specified frequency and in accordance with customer requirements and are documented as required. Conduct daily sensory evaluation of products that are being produced with documented results.
- Maintain the Hold and Release program for assigned shift to include updating status to FSQA Manger.
- Participate on cross-functional improvement teams as requested by FSQA Manager
- All other duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Knowledge associated with food safety, animal science, natural science or technical field normally acquired through a bachelor's degree or higher in academic study, or related job experience essential to the job.
- Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and data collection system use and report generation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels and USDA at the assigned location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred.
- Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products.
- HACCP certification, and GFSI experience is experience a plus.
