Reporting Relations: Accountable and Reports to: Director of Transportation Logistics

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Responsible for adherence to the company or department attendance policy.
- Utilizes Prospera and WMS to load plan and determine proper tonnage through route optimization. Assigns miscellaneous equipment and trailer type to the load. Dispatches drivers based on daily bid.
- Uploads and routes contract freight orders and assigns backhauls for the most efficient use of equipment. Monitors shipment for changes and additions to the load and makes necessary adjustments altering schedules.
- Completes and distributes driver delivery summary and driver reports.
- Maintains daily dispatch record of drivers off work and scheduled vacations. Ensures that each driver receives 40 hours/week.
- Arranges for additional equipment to prevent delays. Assigns tractor and trailer to drivers daily. Lines up outside carriers to cover as needed.
- Handles incoming calls to the transportation department. Research customer problems and addresses delivery concerns.
- Receives phone calls during off hours involving dispatch-related issues.
- Enters out of route miles to calculate profitability for contract and backhaul pick-up and delivery.
- Utilizes yard management systems to save trailers for loads and enters routes ready for release report.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics: - Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
- Need to use good judgment and problem-solving skills when batching and assigning loads according to DOT rules.
- General math ability required.
- Good computer knowledge and skills.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Must possess good verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Excellent knowledge of transportation and delivery.
Education and Experience: - High school education or equivalent required. College education in related field preferred.
- One year's dispatch experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: This job is considered sedentary to light in nature according to the Department of Labor Weight Classifications with the primary functions of the job being sedentary in nature. This is a skilled position. Frequently constant hearing, seeing, talking, numerical aptitudes, subjective evaluation of information, and dealing with people.
Working Conditions: - Office (climate controlled).

- May be required to go across warehouse dock to warehouse office while encountering cold temperatures (35 degrees to -8 degrees) and warehouse conditions.
