The Full Facility Lifeguard is responsible for the day-to-day safety of all Centennial Beach patrons.Responsibilities:
- Ensure public safety by monitoring all water depths of Centennial Beach and the surrounding Riverwalk areas within the direct vicinity of Centennial Beach.
- Prevent accidents by managing guests, enforcing rules, scanning for swimmers for in distress or drowning, and directing weak swimmers to remain in shallow water.
- Anticipate, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies.
- Exercise prompt and professional judgment in administering rule enforcement for those who violate Beach safety rules. Consult with the Head Lifeguard in cases of disciplinary actions for patrons.
- Participate in safety beach dives before opening and after facility is closed each day.
- Participate in pre-season training and attend all required in-service training sessions.
- Maintain and properly care for all safety equipment and supplies.
- Work collaboratively with Lifeguard staff and other Centennial Beach staff in providing a safe, clean facility, and exceptional customer service. Perform general maintenance and janitorial duties to maintain a safe, clean, and friendly environment for guests, co-workers, and the public.
- Demonstrate and support District customer service standards.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old by the completion of training.
- The ability to obtain and maintain, through Naperville Park District instruction, the Special Facilities Lifeguard Ellis & Associates certification, including First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Scuba certification required by departmental needs.
- Ability to maintain a high level of readiness and preparedness in handling emergency situations.
- Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.
- Ability to pass the vigorous pre-season training.
- Vision and sight (corrected, if necessary) to perform essential functions of the job.
