Job Description:

INVO is searching for a DYNAMIC BCBA in Middlesex County NJ! The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at a specialty school in Middlesex County, NJ, is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing behavior intervention plans for students with a range of developmental, behavioral,and learning disabilities. The BCBA works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and families, to create supportive learning environments and promote positive behavioral outcomes. The BCBA will also provide training and support to school staff to ensure the effective implementation of behavioral strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors and determine appropriate interventions.
    • Utilize data-driven methods to evaluate student progress and make adjustments to behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
    • Participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing input on behavioral goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Behavior Intervention Planning:
    • Design and implement evidence-based behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to the individual needs of students.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make data-informed decisions to modify strategies as necessary.
    • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to integrate behavioral interventions into the classroom setting and daily routines.
  • Training and Support:
    • Provide ongoing training and support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff on behavior management techniques, data collection, and the implementation of BIPs.
    • Offer guidance to parents and caregivers on strategies to reinforce positive behaviors and manage challenging behaviors at home.
    • Lead workshops and professional development sessions for school staff on topics related to behavior analysis, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental disabilities.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including special education teachers, speech and occupational therapists, and psychologists, to create a cohesive approach to student support.
    • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, providing expertise on behavioral issues and ensuring that BIPs align with the student's overall educational goals.
    • Serve as a resource for school staff on best practices in behavior analysis and positive behavioral supports.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and make informed decisions about student progress.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of assessments, interventions, and progress reports.
    • Prepare reports for IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other school-based meetings.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
    • Ensure that all behavior interventions and practices comply with state and federal regulations, as well as ethical guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
    • Adhere to the school's policies and procedures while promoting a positive and respectful learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Certification:
    • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
    • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
    • Valid New Jersey state certification or eligibility to obtain certification as required.
  • Experience:
    • Experience working as a BCBA in a school setting or with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, is preferred.
    • Experience in conducting FBAs, developing BIPs, and training staff on behavior management strategies.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of behavior analysis principles and evidence-based practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in data collection and reporting.
    • Compassionate and patient, with a commitment to improving the lives of students with disabilities.
Working Conditions:
  • The position is based in a specialty school environment, with responsibilities that may include direct work with students, consultation with staff, and collaboration with families.
  • The role may involve occasional travel between different school sites within Middlesex County.
