Immanuel is seeking a Full time experienced Line Cook to work at Lakeside/Lighthouse, located at 17475 Frances Street, Omaha, NE 68130. The Lighthouse is located at 17600 Arbor Street, Omaha, NE 68130 and is part of the Lakeside campus. The schedule will be 10:30am to 7:30pm Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (days off will be Tuesday and Wednesday). Some holidays will be required.

This position will pay up to $19.68/hour plus a $2,000 Hiring Bonus (conditions apply)*. Pay will be based upon experience, certifications, skills and education.

Job Duties & Skills Required:

What You Will Do

The overall purpose of this job is preparing, distributing, and storing all foods according to department policies and procedures. The primary responsibilities of this job includes assisting with inventories, records, portion control, special function preparations, and cost controls according to departmental standards. Works closely with supervisory personnel in operating the department with minimum of waste and maximum efficiency. Maintains standards of safety and sanitation of all equipment and work areas. May serve as back up for Team Lead Supports and lives out Immanuels Mission and CHRIST Promises.

Skills & Requirements

Education-

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Equivalent years of work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience-

  • One (1) year of culinary experience is required.
  • Operating industrial sized professional grade food service equipment preferred.
  • Lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.

Other Requirements

  • Food Handler certificate is preferred.
  • Serve Safe certificate is preferred.

KSA- Knowledge Skills and Abilities-

  • Knowledge of food standards and sanitation practices (e.g., food-borne illnesses cross-contamination, etc.)
  • Knowledge of good customer service practices.
  • Skills in food preparation.
  • Skills in creativity, enthusiasm, and a consistent positive attitude. Must work well with others.
  • Ability to calculate amounts of ingredients when adjusting recipes.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and follow through with oral instructions.
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to carry items back and forth between locations.
  • Ability to verbally communicate in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to serve residents in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of residents and co-workers.
