METROPOLITAN KNOXVILLE AIRPORT AUTHORITYThe Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) was established in 1978 as a nonprofit agency to own and operate the city's aviation system, McGhee Tyson Airport and Downtown Island Airport, and has recently celebrated a full 87-years in service to the East Tennessee area. The Position:Our Custodians perform routine duties in the care, cleaning, and sanitization of the airport terminal building, facilities, and grounds. They shovel snow and remove debris from airport grounds and use a variety of equipment, such as scrubbing machines and buffers. He or she cleans floors, walls, fixtures, glass windows, doors, bathroom fixtures, and all other parts of the airport, and applies cleaning solutions, wax, and other chemicals in accordance with supervisor direction. This position requires constant movement from one work location to another and standing tolerance with frequent bending, stooping, twisting, overhead reaching, and lifting of up to 50 pounds. As one of the customer-facing roles of the airport, our custodians' actions help ensure the airport has a clean and inviting appearance to all who arrive here. Responsibilities:
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms and ensures adequate levels of consumable materials.
- Removes trash and recyclable materials from assigned areas and disposes of properly.
- Dusts and polishes surfaces and sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors and entryways.
- Uses a variety of solutions, chemicals, tools, and equipment in the cleaning and sanitizing of airport terminals, buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Maintains upkeep, maintenance, and appearance of stainless steel.
- Assists passengers with general information and directions, as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
The Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate should be able to organize and manage time, speak, and write clearly, follow verbal and written instructions, and pay attention to detail. He or she must be able to work well with others and independently, and provide general customer service. He or she should have general knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing methods, cleaning solutions, and applicable equipment and tools. Must be able to work flexible shifts and weekends. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent preferred; and less than 1 years' experience in custodial work.Salary and Compensation:The salary for this position is $15/hour.
