The Position: The position's primary responsibility will be to cooperate with various adjunct faculty and lab technicians in the performance of several courses that lead to IDHS certification opportunities for the students. Other training opportunities and other program initiatives possible as directed by the program chair. The position will assist in meeting with students, and seeking outopportunities with employers to assist in student development and job placement post-training. This position will also work with IDHS to ensure proper documentation of training is achieved.
Key Responsibilities:The ideal candidate for this position will be involved in instructing various Fire Science and Public Safety courses at the discretion of the Department Chair. This instruction will both be online and in-person courses. This position will also assist with the operations of the Public Safety Building, and be responsible for various inventory and equipment maintenance functions as required. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach day, evening, and weekend classes, both in personand online.The above is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Position Requirements:- The candidate will use IvyLearn to conduct in-person, hybrid, and online classes.
- The candidate will support the mission of the HSPS Program at various events as required by the college and its students.
- The candidate will assist the Department Chair in developing new opportunities for the program.
Position Preferences/Ideal Experience:- Minimal seven years of experience in the field of public safety, specifically in a fire department environment.
- Additional service in general emergency management is welcomed.
- Five years of adult learning experience is welcomed.
Education: - Minimum bachelor's degree is preferred
- Candidates with an AAS in the subject field may be considered depending on industry certifications.
- IDHS Instructor 2/3 is preferred, Instructor 1 is minimum considered based on certifications.
- IDHS Fire Fighter 1,2, FOST, and Officers 1 & 2 are preferred
- DHS Hazmat Tech certification preferred; additional certifications welcomed.

Starting Salary Range: $61,000-$65,000 (Based on experience)
