Description

The University of Rochester's Department of Psychiatry is seeking a physician interested in joining our energetic and dedicated primary care and hospitalist team in the Medicine in Psychiatry Division of the Department of Psychiatry. This is a full time position for board certified/board eligible Internists, Family Medicine Physicians or Medicine-Pediatricians to serve as an attending physician, caring for the medical needs of people with severe mental illnesses. The position will have two different clinic care components divided between the URMC Outpatient Medicine in Psychiatry Primary Care office in Brighton (70-80%) and the Inpatient Medicine in Psychiatry Service units at Strong Memorial Hospital/URMC (20-30%).

This position includes an academic appointment with University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry at a rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and ample opportunities for faculty development within a robust tradition of mentorship. The primary faculty appointments will be with the Department of Psychiatry, with a secondary appointment in the discipline of the physician's board certification (or eligibility).

Teaching and clinical supervision of psychiatric residents and fellows, medical students and other trainees is an integral part of this position, along with involvement in process improvement and program development. Physicians will have particular 5-day weeks on the inpatient unit, with the number of weeks depending on the percent of inpatient effort, and will be expected to work 1 holiday weekend per year. When working at the outpatient MIPS-PC office, physicians work in half-day clinics, with ample time to address patients' medical complexities and robust nursing support; call is every 5 weeks and very manageable.
