RN or LPN status required. Current certificate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Basic First Aid. Demonstrates organizational skills and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates competence in health care service. Evidence of personal characteristics for position relationships with children and their families. Ability to interact with others in a manner that demonstrates professionalism, respect, and dignity. Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid) Drug Screening (self-paid) Act 126 & Act 71 Certifications Letter of Interest, Resume and Application directly through the District website Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide basic first aid in accordance with the district's first aid procedure. Notifies the Coordinator of Nurses of any injury requiring medical or dental intervention or immediate absence from school.
- Examines students who present probable symptoms of a communicable disease.
- Receives proper documentation from physician to re-admit students who were on leave.
- Facilitates self-medication as set forth in district guidelines.
- Provides services to students having special medical needs as ordered by their physician.
- Maintain a record of student contacts on appropriate school forms.
- Documents all accidents on the school's accident report form.
- Contacts appropriate adult to arrange transportation of sick or injured students.
- Conducts height and weight screening for all students in assigned building.
- Review immunization data on assigned students for accuracy and completeness.
- Schedule students for various screening procedures and for medical examinations.
- Maintain a complete, accurate health record for all students assigned and initiate a health record for all new students.
- Inventory supplies, secure and dispense all necessary supplies to maintain health room standards.
- Consult with students and families to make appropriate agency referrals.
- Schedule and assist with mandated school dental exams and physical exams
- Assist and/or conduct testing including growth, auditory, vision, and scoliosis.
- Other duties within certification as may be assigned by the Certified School Nurse, Principal or designee. (Duties may include but not limited to clerical, inventory checks and putting away supplies.)
