Position Type: Support Staff/Teacher AssistantDate Posted: 8/29/2024Location: New Milford Public School DistrictDate Available: immediateF/T Instructional Assistant We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated individual to join our educational team as a Full-Time Instructional Assistant. The primary responsibility of this position is to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at various levels of ability. The Instructional Assistant will work closely with special education teachers to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and provide direct assistance to students in academic, social, and behavioral activities. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the implementation of IEPs by working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Support students in developing social skills, communication, and independence.
  • Provide support in daily activities, including transitions, personal care needs, and classroom organization.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with students with Autism or other special needs is a plus, but not required.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with special needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Training:
