Salary: $18.39 - $21.69 Hourly Location : Cuyahoga Falls Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202100134 Division: Service Department: Street Opening Date: 09/27/2024 Closing Date: 9/28/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Description Under the supervision of an Operations Supervisor in the Street Department, performs semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of street systems; performs other tasks as assigned. Regular workweek: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except during Winter Program; or tour of duty as outlined by the Superintendent. Example of Duties
- Assists with repair and maintenance activities designed to provide quality streets and related structures.
- Responds to complaints and service requests regarding potholes, flooding, right-of-way problems, or related issues.
- Mows and maintains public right-of-way.
- Contacts residents and business owners in areas where services or access may be discontinued and explains when access or service is restored.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
- Participates in snow and ice control regularly during winter program.
- Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, and sand. Mandatory overtime may require driving continuously for periods of up to 12 hours.
- Assists with annual leaf pickup program.
- Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying, and backfilling.
- Cleans equipment.
- Operates light construction and power equipment.
- Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
- Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the street department.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Performs various sanitation department duties as needed.
Typical Qualifications Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent and some experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair; or any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement OR obtain the CDL through the City of Cuyahoga Falls on-the-job entry-level driver training program within 6 months of appointment to the position. Must have the ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City's driver eligibility standards, be able to safely drive/operate all of the trucks and equipment in the department, and comply with all safety standards.
