Full Time Maintenance Technician I40hrs/week*on call responsibility once every two months*Highly Competitive pay based on experience! Bishop Gadsden is searching for a Full Time Maintenance TechnicianI! Located on James Island, we are a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston!This individual is assigned to complete unskilled maintenance functions in the building and physical plant of the Bishop Gadsden community according to the established standards and within the assigned areas of responsibility. This position is considered to be entry level, and also serves as apprentice for Maintenance Technician Level II, providing general help as required.A Typical Day:
- General plumbing tasks such as changing out faucets, mixing valves, plunging a toilet, replacing a wax ring, rebuilding a toilet, clearing drains.
- General electrical tasks such as lock out/tag out, bulb replacement, ballast replacement, fixture change out, fuse replacement, light switch/outlet replacement.
- Change bulbs, HVAC filters, and batteries.
- Hang pictures, blinds, hardware.
- Assemble and move furniture, as needed.
- Communicate availability and completion of assigned duties to supervisor and/or departmental administrative support in an effective and efficient manner.
- Trap and neutralize wildlife as necessary.
- Assist in general maintenance duties as needed and directed.
What We Need From You:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- General experience in building maintenance required.
- HVAC experience required.
- Valid SC divers' license required.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
- Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
