Job Summary B&A is looking for a
Functional Project Manager to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Functional Project Manager to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities - Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
- Create detailed work plans, timelines, resource plans, and status reports.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
- Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams to ensure effective delivery of solutions.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to team members.
- Facilitate team and stakeholder meetings, providing detailed and clear project status updates.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior project managers and other team members.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project.
- Develop strategies to mitigate project risks and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure proactive identification and management of project issues.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
- Conduct post-project evaluations and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk logs, and change logs.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure that projects comply with IT governance standards, policies, and best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement by implementing best practices in project management and IT functional delivery.
Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in information technology, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 6 years of experience in project management within with a focus on managing functional projects.
Required Skills - Experience leading Communications and Training federal projects
- Understanding of IT systems and business processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience with PMO
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of complexity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with project management software tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello).
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with training Jr. members of your team.
- Strong communication skills with previous experience working with high raking personnel.
- Has experience working as a technical writer.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Desired Skills - Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Advanced degree (Master's) in a related field.
- Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company's business (e.g., finance, healthcare, manufacturing).
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in IT.
- Previous experience mentoring and guiding junior project managers.
