Job Summary B&A is looking for a Functional Project Manager to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Functional Project Manager to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
  • Create detailed work plans, timelines, resource plans, and status reports.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams to ensure effective delivery of solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to team members.
  • Facilitate team and stakeholder meetings, providing detailed and clear project status updates.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior project managers and other team members.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate project risks and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure proactive identification and management of project issues.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk logs, and change logs.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that projects comply with IT governance standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement by implementing best practices in project management and IT functional delivery.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience in project management within with a focus on managing functional projects.
Required Skills
  • Experience leading Communications and Training federal projects
  • Understanding of IT systems and business processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience with PMO
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of complexity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management software tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello).
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with training Jr. members of your team.
  • Strong communication skills with previous experience working with high raking personnel.
  • Has experience working as a technical writer.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Advanced degree (Master's) in a related field.
  • Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company's business (e.g., finance, healthcare, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in IT.
  • Previous experience mentoring and guiding junior project managers.
