Our client is a real estate fund. They seek a Fund Controller to join their White Plains, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate records of fund transactions, including capital calls, distributions, and investment activities
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for investors and senior management
- Reconcile fund accounts, calculate and maintain performance fees, and carry calculations for payout investors
- Uphold compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and industry standards in financial reporting
- Manage the annual audit process and assist in the preparation of investor communications and presentations
- Work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax compliance for the real estate investment funds
- Handle the preparation and distribution of Schedule K-1 forms to investors, summarizing their allocable share of income
- Liaise with tax advisors to ensure the proper allocation and reporting of items such as depreciation and capital gains
- Support tax audits or disputes, providing documentation and support to address tax-related inquiries
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks within the funds and develop and implement internal controls
Requirements
- 8+ years of fund accounting experience
- Real estate fund or private equity background
- Private/combo accounting background
- Strong managerial and communication skills
- Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
- CPA strongly preferred
- Skilled in Excel, Investran, and Yardi/MRI/RealPage
