About The Underline:

The Underline is a bold initiative to reclaim 10 miles of land beneath the Miami Metrorail and transform it into a beautiful, active green space that becomes a magnet for residents and visitors alike. What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a movement for a safer, more resilient, and connected community.

The first phase of the project – Brickell Backyard – opened in early 2021 and has already attracted nearly 2 million visitors. Phase 2 opened early this year and expands The Underline's community impact and reach to 2.6 miles. The entire 10-mile park will be opened by 2026. Friends of The Underline (FUL), a nonprofit corporation, is driving the fundraising to build and sustain what will become a place that is uniquely Miami. We are searching for a strategic, dynamic, and results-oriented Fundraising Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at developing and executing successful fundraising campaigns.

Position Summary:

The Fundraising Manager will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners to expand The Underline's funding streams, drive high-impact partnerships, and implement new campaigns. This role involves managing the fundraising opportunities pipeline, from research to deal closing, while also optimizing the development department's processes to increase efficiency and impact. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, results-oriented professional with a talent for relationship-building, strategic thinking, and executing initiatives that deliver significant financial support. The Fundraising Manager plans and executes strategies to enhance operations throughout the department and execute initiatives that generate revenue from new and existing donors and partners. While non-profit experience is a plus, a proven track record in fundraising and relationship management is essential. This position reports to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and supports the CEO with the management of donor relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for securing individual, foundation, and corporate donations and building a robust portfolio of prospects for major gifts, with a mid 6-figure annual goal.
  • Works with the CRO in the creation of gift opportunities and new campaigns for individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive fundraising pipeline, managing all stages from prospect research to securing commitments.
  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships with partners, corporate sponsors, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and other key stakeholders.
  • Design and execute new fundraising campaigns that expand fundraising opportunities and increase the pool of prospective donors and partners.
  • Optimize operations for the development department by streamlining and automating processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Create and implement donor relations plans for all major gifts (above $10,000) and corporate partnerships, working closely with the CRO and CEO.
  • Nurture and steward existing relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family foundations, and corporate partners to provide a high level of customer service to increase engagement and affinity with the organization.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure grant fulfillment and develop compelling and well-targeted funding proposals that align with the goals of the prospective funder and The Underline.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and thrives at multitasking to accomplish goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to connect with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic problem-solver and ability to adapt and course-correct to new circumstances and obstacles.
  • Proven success in closing significant partnerships or securing major deals.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of fundraising or sales experience inclusive of a revenue goal and metrics (A portfolio of individual and corporate contacts is a plus.)
  • Proficient in using CRM software and automation tools to manage pipelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a desire to take the initiative and ensure excellence
  • Bilingual. Fluency in Spanish language is preferred
  • Passion for The Underline's mission and the ability to inspire others.
