Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, Inc., is a small-town Illinois Funeral home (120 calls/year), on the IL / WI state border, that is seeking a full-time licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer. Being a small funeral home, we are looking for someone that has the ability and desire to learn and do every aspect of the business as well as run the business when the owner is away. We sometimes go many days without a call, so you must be a self-motivator.
Responsibilities
- Conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional and caring manner
- Carry out funeral services from retrieval of the deceased to final disposition
- Assist in the maintenance of the facilities, grounds and vehicles
- Ensure that all federal, state and local regulations related to the funeral industry are followed
- Complete embalming, disinfecting, dressing, preparing and casketing the deceased using appropriate precautions and OSHA standards in a manner that honors the deceased
Requirements and Qualifications
- Work at least 37.5 hours a week and overtime as needed
- Be readily available on weekends to respond to families in a timely manner
- Work weekends as needed (Typically less than 5 hours when needed)
- Professional communication skills
- Experience handling sensitive situations in a professional manner
- Knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations related to the funeral industry
- Must hold valid driver's license and have your own vehicle
- Strong organizational skills & Problem solving ability
- Ability to work independently and maintain productivity and accuracy
