$3.00 Shift Differential The primary responsibilities are to operate an induction melting furnace, operating a spectrograph and pouring materials into pre-determined molds and shake the mold to remove the casting. Operate overhead crane and motorized equipment in a safe and effective manner. Completing preventive maintenance on equipment. Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
- Follow direction provided by Floor Supervisor.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
- Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Load material into the furnace as outlined in the standard operating procedures.
- Monitor the operations of the furnace including temperatures according to standard written instructions.
- Obtain sample of materials and test the materials utilizing spectrograph to ensure results are in line with pre-determined requirements. Adjustments are made as required to meet the expectations.
- Pour materials in ladle as indicated in the pour off chart, pour materials into the mold as determined by work orders.
- Remove the casting from the mold and shake out any additional materials from the mold casting.
- Remove unwanted materials from the work area to a staging area for proper disposal.
- Maintain and record data of the procedure.
- Participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives as assigned by direct supervisor or designee.
- Be available and able to work shift and overtime as assigned.
- Able and willing to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment as defined by the safety department.
- Able and willing to work safely in a high temperature environment.
- Prior experience utilizing a burning torch, to reduce material to the appropriate size.
Education/Qualifications/Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent Math and analytical skills.
- Prior experience working in a Lean/ISO environment.
Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:
- Certified with Motorized material handling equipment.
- Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
