Summary:
The Furnace Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Melting Furnace and associated equipment. This includes dry cleaning, charging, skimming, sampling, temperature control, alloying, and transfer of molten metal to the holding furnace.

What You Will Do:
* Strict adherence to safe charging practices
* Capable of safety operating heavy equipment such front end loader, combi lift etc..
* Organization and housekeeping of the furnace and scrap storage areas, cleaning and basic maintenance of related equipment (charge car, skim car, forklift, etc.)
* Control of the melting furnace and related equipment
* Preheater operation
* Record and maintain pertinent production data in an accurate manner.
* Tell management about potential issues that may arise or are currently affecting production in a timely manner
What You Will Need:
* High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
* Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
* Must pass minimal physical test and background screening
* Heavy equipment experience (preferred)
* Candidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are)
* Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds
* Willingness to cross train

* Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems
* Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties.
* Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents.
* Ability to work with others as a team
Licenses or Certifications
* If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver's license is required
* Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs
