Job PurposeThe Floor Technician I is an intermediate position in which a new hire without Floor Design experience would start for the first 6 months. It is atraining and developing time. It also is the status of an employee that is limited to the time spent with a Designer or on the showroom floor performing furniture set up. Work may consist of primary dock duties such as: unloading and loading trucks, wrapping furniture, disposing of cardboard and other dock functions that keep employee in the dock area for the majority of their hours. This position is the same as Floor Technician II but on a limited basis as directed by the Floor Design Manager.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Gallery Setup.
- Pick up furniture from the Distribution Center for placing on showroom floors.
- Unbox and inspect all furniture before placing items on the floor.
- Keep all inventory scanned into proper locations.
- Lift, carry, and/or push furniture with a minimum weight of 100 lbs. in such a way as to avoid injury.
- Move furniture by freight elevator.
- Pull sold merchandise off the Mart, Showroom, and Clearance Center floors.
- Prepare furniture for shipment to the Distribution Center.
- Perform various related duties as required.
- Work rotating Friday nights and Saturdays.
- Assist the Manager or his/her delegate in special projects or tasks as he/she may assign. This may include work in conjunction with or on behalf of other departments.
- Arrive punctually and consistently for work for normally scheduled eight-hour days, five days a week. Additional hours may be required as needed.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of material handling or furniture experience preferred.
- Multitasking abilities.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Be highly organized.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary
