The Furniture Specialist will manage the development and oversight of commercial construction interior (tenant improvement) projects that will contribute to the brand direction and workplace innovation of federal clients.Interview ProcessIf you are selected for an interview, you'll be contacted for an interview through Google Meet or by telephone. If an offer is extended, the start date is determined by availability and the amount of time it takes for the government background clearance process (depending on the client). Furniture Specialist -Essential Job DutiesDuties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Lead government agency furniture projects as small as 3,000 square feet or large headquarters projects, including but not limited to furniture design and specifications, RFP or sole source procurement packages, order entry, install management, and close-out.
  • Provide technical expert advice, guidance, and assistance to a variety of internal customers about employees' office relocations, furniture requirements, and assets documentation and disposal.
  • Assist the client Program Manager with planning and performing day-by-day operational tasks to coordinate and integrate the planning, programming, scheduling, and management recommendations for resources needed to facilitate employee relocations, related furniture/equipment needs, and property decommissioning in a federal leased environment.
  • Lead government agency furniture programs including but not limited to procurement advisory services, furniture standards development, and ad hoc furniture project management.
  • Manage furniture budget and schedule.
  • Conduct manufacturer and vendor analysis to determine procurement strategy and showroom tours with clients.
  • Conduct existing furniture inventory, or direct support team to conduct inventory, and provide analysis to client regarding new vs. reuse procurement.
  • Conduct design meetings with clients to review furniture specifications, space plans, and finish selections.
  • Participate in meetings as required for project coordination with Architecture, AV/IT, Construction, etc.
  • Conduct material/finish application QA/QC before RFP issuance.
  • Develop and manage furniture procurements including specifications, master furniture schedules, room schedules, tagged plans, written RFP, bidder RFI process, bidder interviews/showroom tours, bid leveling, and final award.
  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing where discrepancies or discounting structures appear wrong.
  • Review dealer drawings and BOMs on behalf of the client.
  • Route procurement paper to Finance and Management for approval, including vendor and client billing schedules and any required procurement authorization forms.
  • Create, track, and issue POs on behalf of clients.
  • Track orders.
  • Manage dealer for delivery schedule and installation sequencing plan.
  • Conduct a pre-install walk-thru with the dealer and general contractor.
  • Manage vendor and client invoicing.
  • Track open items with dealers and the client.
  • Facilitate and manage punch list and project close-out with dealer and client.
Qualifications/Capabilities/Software KnowledgeTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Qualifications/Education/Experience:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Clearance Level: Ability to receive a U.S. Federal Government Public Trust Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintain composure during stressful situations, and exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions.
  • 5+ years of experience in government furniture and relocation services
  • Budget/reporting and contract negotiation experience is a strong plus.
  • Ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities and demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, working cooperatively and effectively with others to resolve problems.
  • Ability to positively influence others to achieve results
  • Resiliently positive and energetic.
Technological Skills:
  • Experience with ticketing software, especially ServiceNow; familiarity with any of the major CAFM/IWMS applications (Nuvolo, FM: Systems, ARCHIBUS, iOffice, etc.)
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, Outlook, MS Edge, Chrome, and Firefox
  • Proficient with MS Project or similar project scheduling and management software is a strong plus.
