Job DetailsJob Location Atlanta - Atlanta, GA Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree Travel Percentage Up to 50% Job Shift Day Job Category Nonprofit - Social Services DescriptionGap Services Application Support Specialist Inspiritus Refugee & Immigrant Services (RIS) Department works to build welcoming communities for refugees and immigrants and accompanies newcomers on a path from surviving to thriving. Based in Atlanta, the Application Support Specialist will facilitate public benefits education/assistance to Gap Services clients in Georgia in order to facilitate successful community integration. The Application Support Specialist will also be responsible for assisting clients in accessing public benefit income supports while they work towards self-sufficiency. Additional duties that may be assigned include report writing. However, the Application Support Specialist might also conduct classes and workshops on topics such as budgeting and public benefits. Position Details:

  • Reports to Gap Services Coordinator-East
  • Located in Atlanta
  • Hybrid position
  • Supervisory Responsibility: None
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Monday through Friday; 8:30AM - 5:00PM
  • Annual Compensation: $40,000-$45,000
Responsibilities:
  • Assists clients with linkages to cash and medical assistance, employment, & social services
  • Assists clients with applications for the following as necessary: TPS/TPS extension, initial/renewal for EAD application, fee waivers for applications, re-parole application, motion to change venue for Cuban/Haitian clients
  • Interprets for clients as required or arranges for interpretation
  • Documents all services provided to clients in appropriate database(s)
  • Participates in weekly internal supervision with Gap Services Coordinator - East and provides programmatic updates and requests for support as needed.
  • Coordinates activities with related Refugee Services programs to ensure provision of high-quality services offered with efficiency
  • Performs the above duties at out-posted locations as assigned
  • Maintains personal and professional boundaries in the performance of the job
  • Forges mutually respectful partnerships with clients, co-workers, and external partners
  • Participates in Inspiritus functions and public relations activities
  • Participates in in-service training and conferences related to the programs
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Complies with the various federal, state or local laws that apply to and regulate their job duties
QualificationsQualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a social service or business field and minimum of two years of previous direct work experience in a culturally diverse environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to balance the needs of the client and the employer
  • Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change
  • Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner
  • Excellent computer skills, accurate typing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
  • Must be sensitive to the service populations' cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, competencies, skills, and knowledge that ensures the successful completing of the essential job responsibilities
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Own a personal multi-passenger vehicle, hold a valid Driver's license, have a good driving record, and have appropriate personal auto insurance
  • Familiarity with Georgia public benefits

  • Reads, writes, and speaks a relevant foreign language
