Summary: The Greenacres Agriculture Department offers a two-year farming apprenticeship program starting in April 2025 and ending in December 2026. The apprenticeship is an education focused working position that is blend of field work and some classroom time. The Agriculture department consists of a collaborative garden, greenhouse, livestock production, and education teams. The 2025 apprenticeship class will be working alongside the Greenacres Farm team to assist in all areas of farm production. Overall, interest in organic agriculture and livestock is preferred. In addition to job duties, apprentices must be comfortable public speaking at Greenacres events. Greenacres does not provide housing for apprentices. Requirements
- Able to work independently or with a team
- The ability and willingness to operate machinery
- Outdoor work environment year round using open cab XUV for transportation in all weather conditions
- Passionate about gardening and learning applicable skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs and move equipment and materials commensurate with the position
- Must be able to work a weekly schedule of Monday - Friday with limited weekend work as needed
- Able to adjust to the flexible schedule farming can sometimes require
- Willingness to reach across agricultural disciplines to learn about livestock production at Greenacres
- Compassion and patience with animal handling
- Apprentice must be prepared to work in a professional environment and complete tasks carefully and promptly
- Apprentices must be prompt, responsible, and focused
- Valid driver's license and pass screening by Greenacres auto insurance carrier to drive Greenacres vehicles required
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and additional overtime hours as needed
- Ability to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test and fingerprint FBI background screen
- Ability to internalize and reflect our values: QQQ, Grace, Green, Generative, and Good Neighbor Policy
- Other duties as assigned
